John Kerry Words About Middle East Comes Back To Haunt him
John Kerry, claiming to be the enlightened voice of how to conduct foreign policy, came out and condemned Trump and his moves with the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, warned us, “If Trump does not do something to advance sovereignty for the Palestinians, there will never be any peace in the Middle East!” Now we understand why he did not continue as Secretary of State when Trump took president’s office.
We all remember back when Trump said his desire to move the embassy to Jerusalem, to honor the Jerusalem Embassy Act was followed, multiple former Democrat and Republican Sec. of State along with former ambassadors to Israel came out and condemned the move, said this would cause the Middle East to erupt in violence, it never did.
It did not stop there; European ex-leaders jumped on the bandwagon and said how Trump’s moves moved Israel into a position where holding its sovereignty was unattainable. Former Canadian ambassador wrote an article attacking Trump saying, any annexation was akin to apartheid and said any such move would kill any chance of peace in the Middle East.
What happened was the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza learned quickly that Trump refused to play their game. They demanded the US and much of the world fund their terror, billions disappeared into unknown bank accounts, terrorists were paid blood money, Abbas said that he would not stop funding terror, and he would not cut off payments for blood-money Trump cut off all US aid.
Kerry himself ran to Abbas and told him to hold on something like this had never been done, Trump would be soon impeached; we all know how that turned out.
After this, Trump set about to restart the peace process. Abbas said he would not agree to do anything until the funds were restored (like this money was theirs); Trump told him that was fine, they would move on without the Palestinian Authority or Fatah and create a peace-process himself with Israel.
Kerry and the Left, along with their supporters worldwide condemned, said Trump was an amateur. Yet, Trump was able to do what none of them could bring two Arab nations that have thus far been hostile towards Israel to sit down and have both mutually recognize Israel and set up trade and exchanged embassies.
Yet by ignoring the plan set out by Europe and his predecessors, Trump has decreased the tension between Israel and Arab nations, which has caused them to move closer together to contain the rising threat from Iran.
In the end, no matter how much the Left loves to tell you that Trump is out of his league, Trump was able to get NATO to up their investment into their defense, pulled us out of treaties that would have cost us trillions.
He refused to do what had been done for years, administration after administration following the same failing policy, changed the paradigm, said no more would the US let the Arabs in Israel derail peace talks if they did not wish to be part of the discussions, the talks would move on without them.
We now have two Arab nations at peace with Israel; more are looking to follow over the next couple of weeks.
Mr. Kerry, I would say that Trump was not the problem; you and the old tired thinking was.
